Who are we?
To make a long story short. I started to get involved with water purification a few years ago. Well OK I guess closer to a decade ago now. I lived in Colorado. I do not know how many of you know this but in Colorado the farmers typically have first rights to the water running off the Rocky Mountains.
I have always been fairly healthy in my life with the occasional broken bone or sprained joint from one sport or another. I used to get sick like everyone else does but, when the normal person had the 24 hr flu I would be sick for about 8 hrs. My immune system has always been great.
Then I got a bug I just could not shake. Could not figure it out so I went to the doctor after about a week. For me being sick for a week is a very odd thing. Turns out it was West Nile virus.
But while doing all of the tests they did a blood test on me as well. When I got the results I noticed something very odd in them. I had nematicide in my blood. Me being the WTF type of person I am started to do some digging. Turns out that this is a pesticide used to control insects in the farmers fields. When it rains or snows it runs off with the water into our lakes and streams. According to the FDA I was well within the tolerance level for what they deem safe.
I on the other hand did not really want this in my body. Was it a freak out from being sick for so long? Yes it was. But it still led me down the path of finding out where we get our drinking water from and how much junk the FDA and EPA say is safe for us to consume.
I started doing some research on things and learned that while even though the water treatment plants remove a lot of things from our water. It still leaves a lot of crap in there. One of the most shocking things for me to learn that 1.1 million cases of the flu are caused by tap water every year.
This was enough for me to start looking for ways to get better water for drinking and cooking with. This is when I found Reverse Osmosis. While it may not be the most conservative solution to filtering our water. It is the most effective at filtering out the toxins that are in our water.
